Background information
The continuing COVID-19 pandemic, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) changed life as we know it and significantly affected the global human and animal populations. And yet, through this challenging time, veterinary medicine meaningfully and rapidly evolved, demonstrating veterinarian’s ability to cope, adjust, and adapt; and to continue in their role as leaders of animal health and welfare and public health.
The 2021 World Veterinary Day will celebrate the work of veterinarians to protect animal and human health during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The competition guidelines
- Open to all and only Kenyans
- When: 24th April 2021 (ending at 2359hrs)
- Social media platform: Twitter
- Twitter account to tag: @VeterinaryKenya
- Use both hashtags: #WVD2021ke #WVD2021
- Tweet to have text and image relevant to the theme, “veterinarian response to covid-19 crisis”
Assessment criteria:
- Tweets that creatively demonstrate the work of veterinarians to protect animal health, human health and environmental health during the covid-19 pandemic in Kenya using both text and images
- Tweets with the highest engagements and impressions
Announcement of winners
- Winners will be announced on the Kenya Veterinary Association Twitter account @VeterinaryKenya on 30th April 2021
