18th WRD Scientific Conference at the Jacaranda Indian Ocean Beach Resort in Diani, Kwale County.

The Kenya Veterinary Association and Kenya Medical Association will hold it’s 18th WRD Scientific Conference at the Jacaranda Indian Ocean Beach Resort in Diani, Kenya as from 26th to 27th September, 2024 and mark the World Rabies Day Celebrations on 28th September 2024. The theme of the Celebrations will be “Breaking Rabies Boundaries“.

This year (2024) the celebrations in Kenya will be jointly hosted by the Kenya Veterinary Association and the Kenya Medical Association and bringing together other partners including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development, the county government of Kwale, members of the Quadripartite (WHO, WOAH, FAO & UNEP), Africa CDC, AU-IBAR, government parastatals, humanitarian organizations such as the Kenya Redcross, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals among others.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Wednesday 25th September 2024 – Arrival of delegates
  • 26th to 27th September 2024 – Joint Scientific conference
  • Saturday 28th September 2024 – World Rabies Day/Field day

The conference programme will include oral paper and poster presentations and enlightening discussions and talks relating to all aspects of, “Breaking Rabies Boundaries.

Delegates Information

The conference targets about 500 delegates comprising of National Government, County Government, Medical & Veterinary Practitioners, Academia, Pharmaceutical industry, Research organisations,  Media, international delegates, Development Partners, Civil Society Organizations among others.

DELEGATES’ ARRIVAL IN DIANI

Delegates are expected to arrive in Naivasha on Wednesday 25th September 2024 and head to their respective hotels.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS
The Conference cost will ONLY cover the cost of meals and soft drinks served at the Conference venue, but excluding alcohol, telephone and facsimile services.

Delegations are advised to book rooms for their members who are not catered for by the Conference. A list of major hotels in Diani will be provided on this page (scroll down).

TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENT
All delegates, as well as members of advance teams, will be expected to make their own transport arrangements. If required the Secretariat can assist to identify appropriate vehicles for hire.
